Instruments: violin, Viola and Piano
Age: kids from 4,5 yo till adults
Hi everyone! My name is Elena and I come from Italy. I play viola, violin and piano and I started to study music and play at the age of 9. I received a high-level education from different conservatories, achieved two master’s degrees in Italy and a bachelor’s degree in The Hague.
Since my music education was quite a traditional one, and for some aspects I didn’t like it so much, for my teaching I wanted to develop something different, that’s why when I started to teach around the age of 20 (so around 15 years’ experience now) I became curios about different methodologies.
Among the others, the one I specialized myself with is the pedagogic line Orff-Schulwerk by obtaining the second level certificate.
This approach is born for the teaching of the general music to the kids but personally I decided to introduce it also in my instrumental lesson because it can extraordinarily help to develop the knowledge that we need for understand and play music with the instrument.
Orff-Schulwerk combines different activities such as: body percussions, dance, the playing of Orff-Schulwerk instruments, singing and music improvisation.
One of the principal characteristics of this method is the fact that the music used is coming from all over the world and this allows to discover different rhythms and ways of doing and think about music, contributing to an enrichment of the proposed pedagogical offer.
Furthermore, the other essential aspect is the high level of customization of this methodology, which permits the student to have a peculiar and personalized story with the music and the learning of an instrument.
So, in my lessons I combined the knowledge transfer relating to how to play the instrument with Orff-Schulwerk activities, they are very adaptable and can be applied to the adult also!
You’re welcome to come at Music monkeys and have a couple of trial lessons with me.
I’m looking forward to that, by helping you to create nice memories with the music that you can create on your own… what a satisfaction!
Groepslessen

Dear Parents,
with this new educational program we want to offer the possibility to the children to discover the magic to learn an instrument together in a little group of 3 kids.
In this small group setting the possibilities to learn are multiple and effective for young kids. They will be invited to collaborate between each other to reach different goals inside a process of getting to know and learning how to play the instrument and meanwhile they will develop and deepen their musical knowledge.
The lesson will be divided in 2 moments:
- Notions for learning how to play the instrument
- Group music games to develop all general music skills such as rhythm, body coordination and audiation
The strength of a group gives the possibility to grow all together in a process of knowledge and it can motivate kids to each other a lot.
This program is ideal especially for kids that they didn’t have any specific music education before but they have the desire about learning how to play an instrument.
The ideal combination between instrumental lesson and music games contributes to achieve a good relationship between the kids and with the teacher, all this helps and it is fundamental for a nice environment of learning.
* All children need to take two trial classes first, to see if their personality and level match or not.
(also if they have taken general music at MM before)
If the children will continue after these two classes, they will enroll in a 12 week course.
Since it’s a beginners course, we do not expect families to already buy a violin or keyboard. It is possible to rent one at Music Monkeys for a small fee, which they can take home with them.
